REM Iowa has been honored by the Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa for its service to Iowans with brain injuries.
REM Iowa received the Alliance’s Distinguished Service Award, in recognition of its service and advocacy on behalf of Iowans with brain injuries. REM Iowa works to raise awareness about the number of individuals impacted by brain injury and help make their voices heard.
On February 17, more than 70 staff members and individuals served by REM Iowa assembled at the state Capitol building in Des Moines for Brain Injury Advocacy Day to educate legislators on the needs of people with brain injuries and advocate for expanded access to high-quality services.
“We are honored to receive this award,” said Lisa Pakkebier, Executive Director, REM Iowa. “Our mission is to help those who have experienced brain injury develop independence and foster personal growth so that they may live life to the fullest. Part of that mission involves advocating for individuals with brain injuries to ensure that they have the community supports they need to thrive.”
REM Iowa, a leading provider of services to adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other complex challenges, offers a full array of Acquired Brain Injury Services, including rehabilitation and supported living services.
