Meet Our Mentors
The Mentors in REM Iowa’s Host Home program are making a difference for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities every day. Meet some of our Mentors who are ready to open their homes and lives to an individual in their communities.
They have three adult children and one grandchild-with two more on the way! They share their home with their three dogs – Lucy, Ivy and Ned (all Shiz Tzus). All dogs are very loving and great with others!
They are looking for someone who wants to join their family in a variety of activities such as going on walks, camping, watching football, movies, going to concerts and bowling.
Donna & Craig have experience in the field and are known for their patience, friendliness, and making the individual feel at home. Their two-story home with a finished basement is located in southeast Cedar Rapids.
The individual’s bedroom would be located on the second floor with their own bathroom.
Donna and Craig are ready to provide 1:1 encouragement & support!
They live just 15 minutes North of Monticello in a farm house with their four children (ranging in from ages 4-10) , a dog (primarily outside), and plenty of farm animals to keep them busy.
The individual would have their own room, located on the second floor, so they must have the ability to handle stairs.
The Smiths enjoy spending time together, playing games, being outdoors, and are active in their community and church.
